The Global ICT Standardization Forum for India (GISFI) is an Indian standardization body active in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and related application domains such as energy, telemedicine, wireless robotics, and biotechnology. As India is playing an increasingly important role in the globalization of communication technology, industry, and research and development, GISFI works to strengthen India’s position in the global standardization process by mapping Indian ICT achievements to international standardization trends. GISFI focuses on building strong ties among leading and emerging scholars, institutions, and organizations in India and worldwide to develop and promote a robust research and development agenda. It supports ICT research and product development, addresses issues related to higher education in the field, and provides a bridge toward the globalization of technology, governance, and development. The activities of GISFI are carried out through working groups, where academia plays a key role, and knowledge is drawn from industry, business, civil society, and government or policy-making circles, while also promoting awareness and international joint partnerships with the Government of India.
